150th Anniversary Appeal for Palliative Care
Appeal for the Palliative Care Unit in the Adelaide & Meath Hospital
To mark the 150th Anniversary of the Adelaide School of Nursing 1859-2009, the Adelaide Hospital Society has launched an Appeal to raise funds for palliative care in the Adelaide & Meath Hospital. Specifically funds raised will go towards the expansion and development of Complementary Therapies for palliative patients.
The goal of Palliative Care is the achievement of the best quality of life for patients and their families and Complementary Therapies focus on helping palliative patients learn to relax in body and mind; to give comfort, ease and support to each patient along their difficult journey.
Complementary Therapies always work alongside conventional medicine and help to:
reduce anxiety, stress and apprehension
restore a sense of control over what is happening
treat symptoms such as breathlessness, nausea, fatigue
improve quality of life and give a sense of wellbeing
